Albert Heinrich Hussmann, born 3 March 1874 in Cuxhaven, became famous for his animal sculptures. The painter, sculptor, and later on professor Hussmann already specialised in the production of sculptures of horses and horsemen during his studies. Later on, in 1914, he was awarded the “Golden Medal for Art” by Emperor Wilhelm II. At the age of 70, Hussmann started working at the porcelain manufactory of Fürstenberg, which is said to be the second oldest porcelain manufactory of Germany. The city of Fürstenberg was Hussmann’s last place of residence, he died 15 November 1946 from the after-effects of a stroke.
