This creation by the Portuguese artist Milo is an expression of creativity itself: The dancer represents the freedom of thought and creation that requires no limitations and barriers. The fleet-footed dancer, for her part, is not defined in her physique. The artist has abstracted his subject in a way that turns the sensuously tangible of the body into the metaphysical. The dancer seems to transcend herself. In the act of self-transcendence she leaves her body behind. The figure is mounted on a round black marble base and bears the signature of the artist Milo.

The sculpture was made in the traditional lost wax process. As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication.

Milo, a respected artist of Portuguese origin, has made a name for itself with its distinctive animal and erotic nude sculptures a reputation that goes far beyond Portuguese boundaries. Milo completed a degree in Fine Arts and has since been working as a freelance sculptor. With his wife and his son Pablo, also a promising, talented artist, he lives and works in the suburbs of Lisbon.
