The bronze sculpture „Sleeping Drifters“ by Ernst Barlach is widespread as motif. The model for this figure was created in the year 1912. A woman and a man sit or lie on a bench, the clothes of this couple are good to spot. Folds and wraps are fine elaborated. Both persons are exhausted, they sit down and sleep. The wife leans on her husband and so she finds hold to rest. The strained facial features show, that these persons have to work very hard. This bronze sculpture has a signature of Ernst Barlach.

Casted in finest handiwork, exclusively made in the valuable process of lost-wax casting and made of 100 per cent finest bronze and produced with strict inspections – our sculptures in this shop have a good quality.

On January 2, 1870 the artist Ernst Barlach was born in Wedel, Holstein. On October 24, 1938 he died in a hospital because of a heart attack he had. His bronzes and wood sculptures made him very famous. His artistic style is to find in realism and expressionism. His father worked as doctor and he supported the creative and linguistic talent of Ernst Barlach. The artist worked as sculptor and author. Ernst Barlach passed art studies in Hamburg and Dresden. Until 1985 he was the student of Robert Diez, who was a famous sculptor. Trips to foreign countries like Paris and Russia influenced his work.
